Long time no Blog!

There has been A LOT of changes since I last blogged!  As of today Carter is 2 months and 12 days old. He is growing like a weed and is as adorable as ever!  I'd have to say that I couldnt be more proud to be his mommy.

The story of his birth,
Carter was born on December 5th at 9:35pm. I started having contractions at 9:25 the night of the 4th and slowly through the night they got closer and stronger. I called the Dr's office around 3 am and it took them 2 hours to call me back! The Dr on call said it sounded like I was in labor and to head to the hospital, at this time they were 5 mins apart. On the way to the hospital, they became 3 mins apart. I got signed in around 6am and made the journey to the L&D floor.  I was hooked up to the usual machines and settled
into the bed for and undetermined  amount of time. Around 1 o'clock I got my epidural. I couldn't sleep from all the excitement, and I didnt sleep at all the night b4 cause of the contractions so at this point I had been up for more than 24 hours. Chris was downstairs eating when they came in to check me and said that it was time to push. I could only imagine his elevator ride up, after getting the phone call that it was time!  We settled in to our roles.. me the pusher and supper anxious mommy, Chris the nervous daddy/ Coach and my mom, the excited grandmother/ back up coach/photographer. With all of our family waiting in anticipation, we began to push! He finally made his appearance! Screaming his pretty little head off they placed him on my chest. I fell in love instantly and started crying!   Carter was a whopping 8lbs 13oz and 21.5 inches long.  It was an easy labor and a not so easy delivery. He just wanted to hang out for just a bit longer and it took me 1 hour and 45 mins to push. I was told this was good.. some first time moms push upwards of 3hours! He is perfect and looks like me from the nose down and his daddy from the nose up.

Aunt Chelsee (Chris' sister) gave him this shirt!

Being a mom is wonderful! I couldnt ask for a better partner in life to share this with. Chris is an amazing father and just adores Carter. He cant wait until he can take him fishing and hunting.  Carter is the best gift I could ever ask for. I feel complete now that he is here and apart of our little family. Big brother Ottis is getting use to not being the center of attention and is learning that Carter is here to stay ;)  We are thankful for such a healthy little boy. Carter's 2 month apt went well. He now weighs 11lb 12oz and is 23.5 inches long. He got his first round of shots and Chris and I both cried along with him. It wasnt the most pleasant experience. I dont look forward to more shots. He is right on track developmentally. He can hold his head up while sitting and while laying on his belly. He smiles A LOT.  He also loves to stick is tongue out and "talk".    He only gets up once a nigh! (lucky us). We just cant wait to see what the future hold for him.  I will try my best to keep pictures updated on here!  Lots of love, until next time!

Ticking Time Bomb

Chris says I'm just a ticking time bomb at this point , ready to go at any time ;)   Today I am 37 weeks. At this point in my pregnancy I go to the doctor once a week.  At 35 weeks we had an ultrasound to see how big the baby is. A normal 35 week fetus usually weighs 5.5 lbs. Well Mr. Carter was guesstimated to weigh 7lbs and 14 oz! So its safe to say he will be a big boy! It was amazing to see him on the screen and to see how big he was and how much he had changed in just 15 weeks. What was truly amazing was the 3D picture. You can already tell what he will look like....

At our 36 week appointment the doctor check my cervix and at that point nothing was happening. She told us that I could safely go into labor at any point and gave us a few things to look for. We had our 37 week appointment this past Tuesday. The first 20 mins of the apt was spent on the fetal monitor. It not only was monitoring Carters heart rate, but it was also showing that I was contracting. The contractions were not strong or painful, so nothing note worthy. Once again she checked my cervix and at that point I was dilated just 1/2 cm. Which isn't alot, but its movement in the right direction :). The contractions have continued but they are sporadic and still not painful.  My next apt is the 22nd..

I have had all my baby showers since I last blogged! Everyone of them was amazing and very special.

Mom had a gathering at one of my favorite Mexican places. We sat outside on a beautiful day and indulged in Nachos, great company and good conversation. It was a non stressful, low key perfect way to celebrate Carter with all the special women in my life.
Brooke, my work partner threw me a work shower that was Halloween themed. The decor was amazing and the food spread was to die for! There was a chocolate fountain and cheese fondue. There were the cutest pumpkins with pacifiers as decoration.  She also made a fantastic fire/ems themed diaper wreath, which will go on display at the hospital when Carter arrives.

The following weekend my best girl friends totally out did themselves and hosted an outstanding shower.  I couldn't have asked for a better day!  It was everything I ever wanted.  There was an ice cream bar, lots of sweets and salty to contrast. It was held at my home and it was a great way for everyone to see Carters Room!

Lynn, my mother in law had a shower this past weekend at Chris' grandmothers house. Once again the food was a hit! We got lots of things we needed. It was great to spend time with my new family and friends. I couldn't have asked for more!  (pics to come)

I want to thank everyone involved in all my showers. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family!

Carter's Room is 99 % complete... I am so proud to see all the ideas come to life. Here are some pics....

The "C" painting was inspired by the squares in the fabric. Aunt Angela Painted it!

Another little project that Aunt LaLa (Alexis) did was make a casting of my belly!  It was cold, but fun. It ment alot for Alexis to do it, because I did it for her when she was pregnant with Addison. I will post pics as soon as its painted!
Liked Promise maternity pictures....just a few of my favs.

updated belly pic..me at 36.5 weeks and a shorter hair do!

I would like to close by saying that I am now a proud wife of the newest Spring Hill Firefighter. On 11/11/11 at 11am Chris was offered at full time position with the department.  I couldnt be more proud of my ROOKIE!

Until next time...which just might include pics of Carter ;)

Just call me Martha Stewart.....Better yet Iris Posey ;)

I am 32 weeks and 2 days pregnant. We have been working on the nursery and its coming along beautifully. I decided to tackle the task of making Carter's bedding and art work for his room. After several, SEVERAL weeks of searching for the perfect fabric, I finally found it.. I ordered 5 yards! Chris and I decided that we didnt want a "babyish" feel to the nursery. We wanted something that wouldnt get to old and we wouldnt get tired of looking at.  We are going for a Fire Fighting theme, but not to heavy in the Fire stuff. We are trying to stay away from the cliche fire trucks and hoses look.

(Here is the before picture)
After a serious hormonal melt down on Wednesday (thanks to my sewing machine) I was ready to give up.  Wednesday night my genius husband fixed my machine and he sewed a bumper himself.  I woke up thursday morning with a brand new outlook on the project at hand. I woke up ready to kick the project in the BUTT...and thats exactly what I did!  I knew I had my granny's blood flowing through me.. after all I am a Posey right? I have never been more proud of myself as I was when I was done.  The bumpers are made from the square fabric with a chocolate and white houndstooth fabric used for the ties and the cording that runs along the top of the bumpers.
the after pictures.. oh yeah I rock!

I can not take ALL of the credit for the creative idea behind the choosing of the fabric. I was inspired by a bedding set I found. They wanted $300 for a 4 piece bedding set! I got all the fabrics, and art supplies and decor for under 250! I have to say, a whole nursery for under 250 is ddefiantly a steal!  My next project will be coordinating blanket, pillows and window treatments.  I also have some custom art work in the line up. I can not wait to have everything completed!    For other moms to be out there..If you want custom bedding... it can be done!

Here is an updated Belly picture...

Be on the look out for my next blog!  I had a maternity shoot last week and I can not wait to get the pics so I can show yall!

Till next time!

Just Call me Mamma Bird

I am 28wks and 5 days along. My last Dr. visit was good. His heart rate was 138 and my belly is still measuring 2 weeks ahead. She prescribed me Protonix for my acid reflux, It was getting REAL BAD! She also said that I needed to start counting his kicks. He needs to kick at least 6 times in 1 hour in a day. She said just pick the hour he is most active and count those. He is passing with flying colors! This little boy is active!  Dr. Rupe wants to see me in 3 weeks instead of the usual 4 and then I will go every two until 35 weeks then I will start going every week! Time is flying by so fast. I have a feeling Im going to look back on this pregnancy and it be a blur!

September is a special month in our family.  Chris and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary on the 4th. We spent the day together in a creek fishing, we got soaked by a rain storm ;)  I had packed a lunch for a picnic but due to the rain we just sat in the car and ate. It was a perfect day for us despite the rain. It was actually fun to get caught up in a rain storm! Later that night we went for a nice dinner at Stoney River. We came home and cut our cake topper and shared a slice.   My birthday was a few days later and Chris gave me a gift cert. for a 1 hour massage. I can not wait to use it!

Chocolate Covered Strawberries and Our topper

My nesting is in full swing!  I have been cleaning and washing and organizing like a fool!  I have already washed all of Carters Blankets and towels that we have received. I am slowly making a dent is all the clothes. Yesterday I spent the majority of the day in the bonus room organizing our new office space. I also took my old rocking chair from when I was little and cleaned it up and re stained it. For those of you in my family, this WAS my Strawberry Short Cake Rocker...the music box still works :)

We bought the nursery furniture this past weekend. Chris painted the nursery today. We are waiting on the pain to dry to assemble his crib!  While Chris was busy in the nursery I washed all his bottles and cleaned out a cabinet in the kitchen just for Carter.   I cant wait to get his dresser out of the box so I can organize his clothes better!

His Crib and dresser waiting to be opened :)
Daddy Painting the nursery!

Well, here are a few updated belly pics, enjoy! I will add more pictures of the nursery as it progresses!

Until next time Folks!

Carter Jackson is his name and kicking is his game ;)

Just a quick update...
Im at 25 weeks and 4 days along.  Just 3.5 months left or 14 weeks.. seems shorter when you say it in weeks :)  Our last appointment went really well. I passed my glucose test and my vitals and measurements were great!  His heart rate was 144, which is perfect!
He is moving ALL the time! I get such a happy feeling when I feel him move and squirm. Chris got to experience him kicking for the first time the other day. His face lit up! We get a kick out of placing things on my tummy and watching him kick them off. I have been feeling great! The only complaint is the occasional heart burn.
I finished resigstering this past week. I am registered at Target and BabysRus. Im looking forward to getting the Nursery started. Carter already has a closet full of stuff thanks to the many people who already love him! I dont know what I would do without such great friends and family and all of their support. Thank you all!  We also got a great deal on his car seat and stroller and I found a fantastic deal on a breast pump!   Things are really starting to come together! Im just looking forward to meeting him!
Here are a few new pictures.
